i had to post this sometime. i was banned from global-flat(ass hole f**ker central) because i like to speak my mind. global flat is a place where if a teenage nobody does not like what you have to say-its called an opinion-you get banned. like i said there, anyone who attempts suicide is a weakling attention-seeker. i tell you what, tho. dont post on this site if you are gonna go kill yourself, cuz i just might wish your sorry ass the best of luck. mark, dont ban me for my 1st ammendment right of freedom of speech.

Hi, my name's Jon, I used to be "Thlayli" on here but forgot my password, figured I'd post another intro for continuity purposes.
I'm 33, I used to live in Raleigh, NC, but now I live in San Francisco, I have a yellow frame and red forks, I now work for a PC game company putting their computers together for them, and I've been riding flat for almost four years now, though you wouldn't be able to tell by watching me.

My name is John and I'm 36.
I got started in BMX when I was about 10. In the stone ages, before there was Freestylin' magazine, I was already trying to build quarter pipes (badly) and doing the few flatland tricks that there were.
Growing up in the middle of nowhere, I was lucky that for whatever reason, my little town seemed to have more ramps and bikes per-capita than just about anywhere I've heard of.
Like most 80's era riders that I've known, I never really pigeon holed myself as a ramp rider, or a flatlander, I just rode whatever was available and fun.
I rode pretty much constantly up until the last 10 years when I moved to Houston. In Houston I had a few good friends, but my interest level had seriously faded after the Skatepark of Houston closed and I finally quit about 5 years ago. It was one of those sad "I still ride" denials, but I just didn't and wouldn't admit it.
I'm starting to get the spark again and a nostalgia trip led me to this site.
Right now I've got a Haro 540 Air. It seemed like a pretty good all-around bike even if it is pretty heavy.
John

Hi - I'm scott, and I'm so glad I'm not the only here older than 30. Like some of the other 'foegies' here, I started seriously riding around 1985. Mostly flatland, but we had some great dirt jumps from a dried up creek bed. I haven't been on a bike in QUITE some time, but I've been feeling the need to ride again for longer than I care to admit. Recently, my nephew came over with his new bike, and I was surprised that I was still able to do a Randy Roll (don't laugh, it was a big deal back then), and that was like giving heroine to a junkie. I'm going this Saturday to get a new bike, and I can find plenty of bikes specificly for dirt, but who makes a good flatland bike nowadays? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cant wait to track my progress. "Bones heal and chicks dig scars!"

Hey Scott, Welcome to the site. Flatland has companies have changed alot since you were involved. My first bike when I got back in was a GT because that was a name I knew. I would suggest go to www.flatlandfuel.com they have a wide variety of good bikes. The DK Signal is a good bike also the Tantra seems to be popular too. I am stoked you can do a Randy Roll. We could never do them BITD so my friend OJ invented the OJ Roll. I still do them however I think I am the only person that does it. LOL. I am glad you found the site and found your way back to flat. Let us know what you end up getting and feel free to post video of your progression. Keep on Riding!
