How do you get your self in the right frame of mind before a big event?

I've not rode for years, but have probably competed in dozens flatland contests. Advice I would give:
- the last few days before the contest practice nothing but performing your routine over and over again using the same music as in the contest (do you guys still ride to music at contests?).
- when you arrive at the event start out practicing tricks you can pull consistently. The last thing you want to do is get frustrated with something and have a bad session.
- after you're warmed up practice the tricks that will be effected by the surface you are riding on. For example, when I rode my biggest tricks were multiple hang-gliders and backwards rubber-rides. If the contest was held in a place that had a rough surface or slight slope it was necessary to get a feel for how the bike handle on the foreign surface.
- spend some time socializing as well. For me it really helped to keep things at contests more casual and gave more of a mood of riding back at home.
- most importantly; get a good nights sleep, be well rested and have fun.
When your totally prepared for your run things will change from having butterflies in your stomach to anticipation to show off your skills.
Hope that helped a bit. Good luck.
