I am planning on getting a new bike made up soon. I should emphasize that I want just one bike to handle a mix of flatland and some street abuse. I don't plan on grinding things or taking huge drops, but I intend to ride it a bit aggressively and cruise around going off small obstacles, down some stairs, etc.
Since I am 5'10" - 5'11", around 175lbs, I need something that will survive. I have been riding a long time (since the 70s, before most of you were probably born), so I am comfortable on two wheels and won't abuse the bike.
My main questions are: Should I go for a more street-oriented setup or a more flatland-oriented setup? Will I be more bothered by the short top tube of a flatland frame or by the long chainstays of a street frame? Are there any frames (completes included) that you may suggest that I have a look at?
Hell, when I first rode, there were no freestyle frames. Then there were just one type of freestyle frame, whether you were on flatland or vert....

Hey Minus
We are about the same build and I have a GT compe. Its been a good bike even though i have bent a few parts. I have heard many good things about fly bikes..those are more flatland bikes. I also have heard alot about Ares bikes. I am sure there are some others out here that may have more suggestions.
I was born in 67 and started riding again last year. I created BMX Freestyler 7 months into riding.
I hope this information helps you out.
