Many thanks to you, Mark. I'm very honored to be part of the "BMX Freestyler" website. I had a great time doing the interview. Rey had great questions that brought me WAY back. I hope the readers will enjoy it.

Hey Larry...would you happen to have any old footage of you riding? It would be great to put up a old clip of you riding. Or maybe even a new clip If you have any AFA tapes that would be so cool if we could extract some of the clips of you out. Mark

Mark, believe it or not, I have footage of my routine at the 1986 AFA Masters-Velodrome Contest taken by an unknown cameraman. I think I have Kevin Jones' routine as well (pre-forward-gliding-scuff days, a lot of hoppity-hop tricks). I may also have footage of several pros too (ramp & flatland). These are video clips of pure old-school BMX Freestyle nostalgia. I’ll dig them up and send them your way.
Henry, thanks for remembering the good ‘ole days. I also noticed the “43”in YOUR email address as well. Coincidence?

That would be Awesome. I love the new style of riding...rolling and flowing...but nothing can beat the good ol days of hopping around. I am still trying to master front wheel hops..LOL The most I could do BITD was about 8. Today I am lucky if I can get 4.
Thanks Larry,
Mark

Hey Larry, if we're lucky, Henry will be coming to the CSUN jam. This guy is mister smoooooth! Looking forward to the jam that's for sure! Okay, I'm pretty ignorant to the "43" thing...what's that all about?

43 is just everywhere. it started in norcal and spread worldwide. i'll be at the jam for sure. i live for jams, it's one of the things that keep me motivated to ride. man, that velodrome comp really brings back memories. that was the first comp i ever went to, and seeing all the guys you only saw in magazines was so incredible. that was the peak of the afa for sure. the run-off between RL and McCoy way so awesome. the pros were so much larger than life. by the next year, the ams had caught up to the pros. and by 88 the ams had surpassed the pros.

Yeah, BITD, jams was unheard of for me. I mostly rode with another buddy and that was it. Maybe a few skaters that I knew. It was still fun but going to these jams is something else. Had I not gone to my first jam last year(Hollywood Jam #3), I probably wouldn't have gotten back into riding. I would just be a dude with a bike who just holds onto it because of his fond memories of the past. HA!
But I definitely have the riding bug again. It's the only thing I really enjoy doing now. Getting back into riding was definitely a positive thing for me. It's keeping me in good shape(minus scars, bruises, and achy body...hehe).
Hey Larry, if you do decide to get back into it...don't get discourage when your body feels like it's been hit by a semi. Eventually, your body will adjust to the demands of riding and you'll start to feel better. For a while, I thought I was too old to ride but after about a year of riding now, I'm glad I stuck it out. It's definitely going to be a steap hill but as long as you've got guys to ride with, it's definitely worth it. Seeing guys like Henry definitely pushes me to ride even harder. Just seeing his whiplash to hitchiker, to jugglers, to whetever he wants to do is amazing! He makes it look so easy and here I am still killing myself! GRRR!!!
