I rode flatland back in the mid to late 80's. The days when a double decade and quadruple hang-glider were at the pinnacle of difficulty. I must say, the stuff you guys do now is really insane compared to back then. Very impressive how the difficulty level has jumped.

Yeah the bar has been raised yet again. I am really looking forward to the next BIG thing. What ever that will be. Peg Free Tricks? Or maybe backflips on the ground? You flipping and your bike still rolling and you land back on the pedals? I think it will have something to do with but It will take someone who has a TON of guts and a background in gymnastics to pull off something like a handstand hitchhiker!
Keep on Riding!

I must admit Mark, you really inspired me to start riding again. I'm only a few years younger than you.
Thanks man.

Hey dlightmen, I second that motion about Mark. Where are you from? Anywhere near Austin? I guess I am lucky, I am only about thirty minutes away from the garage we ride at, and I get to see everyone, and that keeps me motivated. Mark and Jim have both been very helpful...and we have a few pro riders here that have been helpful too.
I have yet to ride this week...waiting on my bars...which I got last night. Now I find out that my wife might be going out of town for the weekend, which means the car I use(I don't have a car, I still ride my kid's bike for transportation) to go to the garage is gone. But I will put in some time here in San Marcos. The weather looks like it is going to be good this weekend. A little cool, but I just will ride faster to keep warm. Ha!

Oh...the topic is modern flat. Yeah, stuff is crazy what they are going now. I wouldn't say that the modern stuff is more difficult compared to the era of 89 on...just different. Not that I have anything to go on...I cannot ride modern flat worth squat...but it just seems that way. Even the big banger tricks...that was from the 90's and Andrew Farris. Anyone know what happend to that guy? Or Trevor Meyer?

WOW...the guy still shreds. Is he sponsored? Why doesn't he ride in comps anymore? He would still place very high at comps. And did I just see a cross footed bar ride? New twist on an old trick. I saw this guy at an old AFA comp in like 88 or 89 do a surfer nose wheelie. Yes, a surfer nose wheelie. He would do a regular surfer, but put his back foot under the seat and stand on a laid back post. He would lift the rear end up like that and ride a nose wheelie. Some of them were pretty long too. Can you dig up some new footage of Andrew Farris?

I live in CO, but grew up riding in the Northwest. From about Oct. - Apr. there is just too much snow on the ground to ride here. Next fall my garage will be cleared out though. The last time I rode was probably about 93'. I borrowed a friends bike and sessioned with Jesse Puante and Erick Emmerson. Watching them even back then blew my mind. Now they're taking off brakes and pegs for flatland. EDIT: brakes, not breaks .. lol
