You know, I just wanted to say that I am grateful to have such a positive riding community here at BMX Freestyler. Seriously, it's nice to have people who are positive. On some of the other bmx websites I have seen so many hateful people making posts. I have seen people make physical threats to other people, and I have seen people teased endlessly and called names for being "different" than what is trendy or in vogue at the moment.
This is a personal issue with me. I started riding in 1985 because it was my escape from people who were hateful. Riding wasn't considered cool back then, and I just knew I didn't want to be like the people that talked so much crap about me. It was a way to express my uniqueness and gave me an outlet when I felt like punching someone in the face. I rode because I had to ride...to save my life. I still ride to this day...though much more recreational. Riding to me has always beenabout harmony, becoming more in tune with yourself...both physical and mentally. It is about pushing my own boundries...not about trying to live up to others expectations.
I feel it is crucial to keep the bmx spirit alive and positive to keep newcomers coming to find what we have all felt before. That freedom. Freedom to express and be yourself, freedom from judgement by others. I endlessly search for that freedom. Bike riding has been a healthy drug for me over the past 25 years, and I don't need hateful people killing my buzz...you dig?
Sorry this is so cheesy...i'm not always rainbows and unicorn either, but bmx is my church, and i'm tired of people pissing on my alter.
