I was wondering if any of the ATX crew would be interested in possibly doing a show here in San Marcos?
Let me give you some background. San Marcos has a good healthy cycling community and we like to keep things fun here. We have been having uni-cycle football games(only place in the world this is played) and they have an annual "Stuper Bowl" as the last game. Anywho, the games are always fun to watch(i'm learning how to ride a uni-cycle so I can play) and we do our share of tailgating with grills and adult beverages as part of the action. During the Stuper Bowl, we have some sort of half-time entertainment. Well, I thought some of the ATX crew could do a flatland half-time show. I always get a ton of questions about flat from some of the locals, which is a bit disappointing because I suck at representing flatland. I just think to myself, "Wow, if they are impressed with my 1989 riding abilities, they would be floored by riders who are actually good." Apparently, Chris is too busy putting on contests and David is in Austin riding or buried in a parking garage here for San Marcos folks to see real flatland riders. I don't know if it would actually be a "go", just wanted to see if some of you folks would be interested, or does it just sound too fruity. I could possibly work on getting a show together if anyone is interested. And if anyone is interested, do you think it should be a few select riders, or do y'all think any of the ATX crew could participate? I would really like to see Chris Balles, David Weathersby and Ruben, because they all are San Marcos locals of sorts. I think everyone in ATX definately has the skills to pull off a good show...well, except for me. I don't like the fact that I am the face of flatland here...gives people the wrong impression about flat. I would love to see some of the folks here that ride bikes get into flat. I know that we have a badass crew of street and trails riders here that would check out the flat action. While on the subject, props to CJ Romero(local San Martian and BMXican crew) for his full interview in RideUK recently. Good photos of some of San Marcos street spots.
Peace,
