In 2005 I set out to do a Hang 5 in 2005. I reached my goal. I can now hang 5!! It may have taken a year to do it but I reached it. Now its time to set another goal. I am challenging everyone here to post a riding goal and lets all watch the progress. Here are a few tips too.
1. Don't set your goal so high that you can't reach it
2. Challenge your self. Do set a goal to do a trick that you already know how do do.
3. Set a short term goals and long term goals. When I was learning to hang 5. Some of my daily goals was just to roll 2 feet. If I could get 2 feet I was happy. As time went on I pushed my self further. The ultimate goal was to do a Hang 5 in control.
4. Give your self time to learn it. Everyone learns at a different pace.
5. Have fun most of all. I was almost ready to give up on learning a hang 5 because I wasn't having fun anymore. I became consumed with learning how to do it. As your learning a new trick. Go back to some other tricks that you do know how to do. It will give you a break from the trick your trying to learn and you will be having fun at the same time.
6. Get some one to take pictures or video of you. So you can see your progress too. When you realize where you were and where you are going. You will be motivated by your progress. Keep posting your progression along the way.
Those are my tips. I hope that this might help some one out there. Now I want to see some progression out there.

Pretty good tips, Mark. I especially like number 5. I've had that happen to me where at some point you can't even progress with the trick because you're trying too hard. Actually, it still happens, but since I'm aware of that, I go and try some tricks I already know for a few minutes, then go back.
I definitely have to do the pictures or videos. I guess it would also help to see what you're not doing right.
I'll try to think of a trick or two that I want to learn and come back and post here.

OK, here's the first commitment: Steamroller (plain, old steamroller). Started on it last night. It felt pretty shaky ... hehehe.

i'll jump on the train too i guess ; here's a goal for me: sometimes i can step into a crackpacker, and sometimes i even roll it a bit. my goal is to step into a crackpacker, roll it, and then step back out into a steamroller. i've never rode out of a crackpacker, so that's a great goal for me.

Mega Spins for me!
Short term goal: Get at least 4 scuffs in before falling off Long term goal: Spin 4 times, then get into a trackstand and do some simple tricks from that

My Goal for me is to link my Hang 5 to a Steamroller and out. I have been coasting my hang 5s with alot of control. I have started working on steamrollers again. I did one today with out touching. But letting my hang 5 go has been next to impossible for me to do.
Short Tearm. just letting my leg let go during a hang 5
Long term. Going into a Steamroller from letting go

We also have to have a time limit for our goals too. So if we dont reach them by a certain time we can re evalute our goals and adjust them accordingly. I am giving my self 3 months to learn how to go from H5 to Steam. I feel I should be able to do it faster than that but I have yet to do one yet so its going to challenge me definatly!!!
Give your self a time frame too. Lets see some progression!!

I'll say two months for my first complete steamroller. Getting them dialed is probably another story!

hmm id say a short term goal for me would be to get out and ride more first of all, but once i do some short term goals i hope to get downare infinity rolls, naurie stands(not sure how to spell it) a long term goal of mine would be to do a cherry picker, but i dont see that happening til maybe this time next year.

Not really a short-term goal: but I want to pull a cross-footed steamroller to cross-footed hitchhiker. Baby steps, baby steps.....

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to make much progress on this. It seems like I'm always complaining and if it's not one thing it's another one that prevents me from riding Hehehe ... Maybe I'm just a whiner. I've been practicing the rolling part, but nothing else. I can roll for 10 to 20 feet sometimes, but it's not consistent yet.
